A couple of points.
First, scoring average doesn't mean much to me about the quality of a team. Shot clocks and 3 point lines and tempo have more to do with that than overall team strength. MOV would impress me more.

Second, getting into the NCAAs is easier now than in Ainges era.

Third, I'm pretty sure more games are played now and it's my impression that there are more weak sisters played in the pre-season than in years past, so I'm not sure how much better BYU is now compared to years passed based solely on win numbers.

I think that the most top 25 appearances is easily the strongest single metric for BYU's recent basketball success. I guess I'm surprised that the 1980's BYU teams (esp the early 80s) couldn't accumulate more than 40 total weeks in the top 25.

The Ainge era teams (and before) didn't have much of a chance to secure conference tournament championships since there weren't any back then.

Having said that, this is really good data and it shows what a great coach we have in Rose, some head scratching losses notwithstanding.
