In playing low post defense
the first thing to establish is your base (feet). Once that happens then you play defense with feet (slide, step back, up, etc). Hands should be high not low, but you don't want too high of hands so, with your back to the basket, you need to keep you elbows up and how your hands (that means ref will see no hands on back). As soon as the offensive player is ready to establish his shot, then you move feet first then body then high hands. Of course, like Andrus keeping his arms up so as not to foul.

Problem with bigs in the game is that they want the ESPN highlight reel of a blocked shot.

What Luke and Corbin need to teach their muscle is to keep hands at a mid level on defense, use the feet and body for solid defense then high hands on offensive shot. Hip swivel to establish rebound and mid hands to grab the ball.

Miken drills greatly help out with this
