for me it comes down to big wins vs ranked teams and the ability to close out...
...big games. Tyler certainly has had nice games in the past that were Jimmer level but not the quantity of games that Jimmer has had but he hasn't been able to come close to the quality of wins that Jimmer has had imo. Tyler has been the "Almost Kid" when it comes to big games. This season we haven't been blown out in a single game and our 8 losses have been by an avg of 4.7 pts a game. All very close losses that we had a chance to win down the stretch but never could make the plays to close out games. It's not all on Tyler but he is a leader on the team and in a sense, like Jimmer was, he's the lone go-to scorer and he kind of seems to run out of bullets in the last minute or two of the game.

Jimmer had great games vs top 5 ranked SDSU, iconic games vs UNLV, Utah (ok they were lousy then), etc. I think these teams kind of intimidated BYU in years past and for sure there was a mental barrier in the minds of BYU players regarding UNLV and SDSU that Jimmer destroyed. Losing to a so-so SDSU team this year in a game we should've won sort of illustrates the difference between both players. I don't think in 100 yrs that Jimmer would've lost that game. Tyler tries hard and expends a lot of energy when he plays. Jimmer seemed to channel his energy into "willing" teammates to be better when it counted and they were impacted by that.
