There's been a definite shift. USU is more LDS-centric than it used to be

With increasing academic requirements for BYU there are a lot of LDS kids that end up at USU. College town, away from home - it's an attractive second choice. Among my kids' friends, USU is a popular choice for those that aren't going to get accepeted to BYU.

USU is the school of choice for HS kids not going to BYU these days.

For me personally, I loved my time at USU! and NO, I did not apply to byu.
