Ever tried to shoot FT's when you've played that tough a game. Go back and watch the replays and see what an effort the Zags made to guard Haws. They had somebody in his jersey all night long. He got the usual grabbing, holding, slapping, pushing from some of the best in college basketball. You go try that and let's see how you shoot FT's.
I know, I know, that's no excuse, he still should have made them. Obviously goes without saying that missing four FT's in a game like that are VERY uncharacteristic of Tyler. He's money at the line. But everybody has an off game here and there.
Let's not forget that both Zag stars, Pangos and Wiltjer actually had worse games than Haws. Tyler shot better and outscored both of them. Again, VERY uncharacteristic of those two. They didn't get to be ranked that high with that sort of performance.
The all-time BYU scoring record-holder would not have had his legacy tarnished by missing a couple of FT's.
