My parents are two of the biggest BYU fans out there. They've been driving down from Idaho going to almost every home football game for over the past 30 years. They drive to a few BYU Basketball games each year as well.
My mom is currently in ICU at a hospital in Idaho. We're trying to figure out what's wrong with her. She is pretty sedated most of the time but last night as I sat next to my mom and dad in her room in ICU, for a couple of hours my Dad was able to take his mind away from the pain his sweetheart is enduring and enjoy the BYU-Gonzaga game last night in her hospital room.
Win or lose last night, it lighten my Dad's mind for a couple of hours which I'm very grateful for. I'm glad we have things like BYU sports that can give our minds a respite for a short while from the challenges that life sends us. My mom does awake from time to time and she was able to smile when I told her BYU had won.
Thanks BYU for giving us a short break last night from our worries for our mother.
