Sound is transferred primarily through the contact of the sheetrock to the studs
Insulation helps a lot, but if you really want to get the sound down then you need standoffs between sheetrock and the studs. You can also buy sound deadening glue and glue a second sheet of sheetrock onto the first. Any of those work fairly well. Do all three and it is awesome: Insulation, sheetrock standoffs, and a seconde sheet glued on the first with sound deadening glue.
