Next year could be a deja vu year the way Hill plays. That would leave a JC quarterback who got 100% of the spring ball reps to be the 2nd string. If he plays well, the coaches let him have 2016 too. A JC quarterback might buy into that possibility. Mangum could redshirt if he wasn't ready and then be the 2nd string in 2016 and then start 3 years.

That all didn't happen, but there are zero reports of BYU chasing any other JC quarterbacks. Maybe the coaches were afraid that Mangum would transfer, but this is a calculated risk on their part to bring in zero JC options for last season or this season.

There are JC quarterbacks that didn't have offers from any decent schools, so you can't tell me that BYU couldn't have found one that would have accepted an offer.
