The weirdness is/was Hans's fault. When he first joined the media
he acted like a goofball. He wandered down to BYU and acted like a clown: balancing things on his chin, razzing coaches and players, asking dumb questions, providing big-oaf soundbites. During that time he had nothing but positive things to say about BYU (and he was working to get his degree, too).

Then he decided he wanted to be a real media member. He used his connections at BYU and buddy-buddy relationships with current players to get inside information. Remember the Manti Te'o recruiting visit story?

BYU coaches were less welcoming after that. With good reason. He was no longer the fun alumnus; he was after headlines. Hans never took the same approach with Utah because his friends were coaching there, and KW was better at balancing Hans the dude and Hans the radio personality.
