Here are some tips, hope they help!
If you have time, seeing and having a few lessons with the local golf pro can help point out some obvious things in your swing that could make it more consistent. As well they have good tips on how to approach your short game and build consistency with that. You don't need a world class pro to take lessons from and drop a lot of money to get better, only if you want to be a great great golf player. But even the local pros can put you on the right track into developing as a better golf player.

Some other things that don't require lessons are filming yourself while at the range and going back and watching to see where you messed up on your bad shots and what you are doing right to produce good shots. Videos and books are good also to get insight on how to get better at certain shots or situations. I always liked Golf Digest and their instructions and help they had in each issue. And overall it just comes to practice practice practice. Getting the feel for your clubs, knowing what to do in certain situations, etc. You see Tiger now a days and how he has good mechanics, but he has lost the feel and mental part of the game. That just comes with playing so much that your comfortable with it. That's all the advice I got from my experience playing 4 years at my high school.
