it's my understanding they're only allowed on the mountain after the lifts close
till before the lifts open, but i could be wrong.
I have no problem with Alta only allowing skiers on the lifts, as those lifts were built with private money. I don't think they should be able to restrict a snowboarder from walking on public land however. not that i'd want to hike a mountain in the snow, but it should be allowed.
