RE: When only looking at the top bracketologists, this is how things look for
So I went ahead and used the same methodology again. I only looked at bracketologists that have made projections for the past 3+ years and rate as above average in their projections. I also limited it to those updated within the last 3 days. That netted me 28 bracket projections compared to the 91 currently listed in the bracket matrix. Here is where they have BYU:

10 Seed
10 Seed
11 Seed
11 Seed
11 Seed (4th to last team in)
11 Seed (4th to last team in)
11 Seed (4th to last team in)
11 Seed (3rd to last team in)
11 Seed (2nd to last team in)
12 Seed (4th to last team in)
12 Seed (4th to last team in)
12 Seed (4th to last team in)
12 Seed (4th to last team in)
12 Seed (3rd to last team in)
12 Seed (3rd to last team in)
12 Seed (3rd to last team in)
12 Seed (2nd to last team in)
12 Seed (last team in)
12 Seed (last team in)
12 Seed (last team in)
12 Seed (last team in)
12 Seed (last team in)
12 Seed (last team in)
12 Seed (last team in)
12 Seed (last team in)
Out (1st team out)
Out (1st team out)
Out (2nd team out)

4 people have us safely in the field compared to 3 who have us out altogether. 25 of 28 have us in the field (which is an improvement over a week ago). On average we are listed a the 3rd to last team in the field. By looking at the seeding it would seem to indicate we're in line for a 12 seed. However, about 1/3 of the 12 seed projections have our true seed on the 11 seed line but bumped to a 12 due to the "No Sunday Play" policy that we have. On a side note, my personal projections (which are included here) have BYU as the 3rd to last team in getting an 11 seed which is right in line with what other top bracketologists are projecting.

How does this relate to BYU for the rest of this week? I think it's VERY important that they win tonight. While a loss tonight won't eliminate them it will make them a true bubble team that may or may not get in. A win tonight and we should feel pretty safe about our chances - especially if we end up playing Gonzaga in the finals. A win against Portland tonight and a loss to Pepperdine tomorrow (should they upset the Zags) and I still think we get in, but it is definitely not a for sure thing at that point. If it is Gonzaga that we play tomorrow then I we should feel pretty confident about getting in win or lose (though obviously winning would net us a better seed).
