One of the responsibilities for my job is to find ways to automate much of the stuff other people are doing. I have found lots of diligent programmers that are happy writing hundreds and thousands of lines of code that could be accomplished with 20.

In the end I don't care how hard someone is working, I do care about how productive they are. If they can find a way to be more productive than everyone else while working 5 hours a week, all the more power to them.
