Compared to years pass, this team seems young, like really young. There are SR, but not the depth, maturity or aggressiveness we have seen in other SR. While BYU is a young team, they have talent and for the next four years, I wouldn't be surprised to see BYU rise back up to the top. So here we go from tonight's match.

3rd set: BYU seemed to have come out slower and not as aggressive. Once UCI got up, then something clicked for BYU, but it wasn't enough. That was a difficult loss to lose that by two in the 3rd. Had BYU won a critical battle at the net, I believe 3rd set would of been BYU. For tomorrow, BYU has to start fast and continue to keep the pedal down and not let up. UCI is the BEST serving team in the MPSF but they didn't show that tonight. UCI won't make that mistake tomorrow so BYU has MORE to deal with in tomorrow night's match.

2nd set: BYU started really slow and like the 3rd set came on strong in the middle of the set. Against UCI, you can't do that...Need to keep pressure all game and pedal down. BYU rotated 14 players through (that is a lot of play time) and next year as they are one year older, will pay off well for BYU.

BYU Langlois will be an All American on go on to play international ball. He is very talented player.

MPSF Standings: UH back on top in what it seems like FOREVER. UCI, strong serving team and Waves from Pepperdine just as good of a blocking team as BYU. Add one more loss in the column for BYU so record now is 10-7 in MPSF. This is most likely the most down of a year from the MPSF and BYU at this point of the season has a long way to get back into the playoff. I believe BYU right now sits at one of FOUR OUT.

Good thing for BYU, UH is in Provo but that will be a difficult match for BYU as UH is simply stunning this year. Ebb and flow like in all sports.

Top Five: With a BYU loss tonight, USC over takes BYU in the 4th spot. UCI and BYU play tomorrow so without a doubt, BYU has to win those matches and split the series. Long road to bring a home MPSF playoff game but I think it is too much of a mountain to climb at this point. BYU still battle like there is no tomorrow, but to overcome four games will be difficult, very difficult.

Final: So close in the 3rd and 4th set and a lazy 2nd set for BYU. UCI is a very good team that passes very well, serves well (though not tonight) and decent in blocks. UCI seems to be more fit than BYU and more added muscle to their frames. Good players that have a very good chance to win it all this year. Two teams outside of MPSF (Lewis and forget their name) will have something to say about that, but UH, UCI can win the NC this year.

Off season: I would like to see jump soles used on the players and get them to add 2" to their vertical. Also, get in the weight room and add some muscle. Some good digs and the ability to kill from various spots on the court AND with more authority would be welcomed for BYU>
