His daughter served in my mission and never mentioned who her dad was. I was her zone leader when she finished her mission. About three weeks before she went home I read a church news about Ty Detmer and Gifford Nielson getting their numbers retired. When Sister Nielson's parents come to pick her up I thought man that guy looks familiar. Finally it clicked, I ran back to the apartment and got the church news signed by him. Before he left he gave us missionaries a motivational speech. Told us to go preach the gospel like mad dogs. I didn't know how to take that but I still felt motivated... I need to go find that church news.
