I was worried Louisville and Kentucky were going to meet and we would see a hockey match. Hockey used to be a beautiful, flowing game but has been reduced over the years to a lot of dumping the puck into the zone and chasing it along the boards.
I think Pitino and Calipari have developed a similar model to winning. Make the game all about defense. Have a floor full of active, long guys that harass, chase, deflect, and block everything. On offense, just get the shot up and have your really active, long guys chase down the offensive rebound.
So yeah, if that is what Webber meant, I agree with him. Athleticism is up in basketball, but I don't think the game is more interesting to watch because of it.
