IMO we would beat UNC if we were to play UNC next year. Emily Bruder is the star at UNC and several of the BYU players have "owned" Bruder for years having played against her in high school and club in Utah. Although I wasn't able to watch the UCLA game, I understand that we dominated UCLA for long stretches of the game and had several quality chances to score which would have made it a different game. Sarah Chambers was not able to play against UCLA, and Rachel Boaz played only half the game as the coaches rotated keepers. UCLA will again be a top-5 team.
With Paige Hunt and a new freshman like Brianna Hatch, BYU will have 11 or 12 quality players who can play with anyone. The nice thing is that many of the BYU players not only played together for all of last season, but have also played together in club, high school, and ODP for years. BYU completely controlled the game v. Utah with BYU's passing and BYU should have won 5 or 6 nil.
BYU opens up against Cal and Stanford in Hawaii so we will learn quickly how good BYU will be.
