I second the above people who said ozone machine
It's really the only way. We had an apartment that reeked of smoke. Tried everything including smoke sprays and scrubbing the walls and ceilings with ammonia. The only thing that worked long term was an ozone machine. We plopped that in our apartment and let it run for a few days while on vacation. Worked great.
