Possible, but they actually have played better without him than with him in
several matches throughout the year. Langlois has great size and is very athletic at that size which makes him great on offense and a big block at outside.

However his defense and serve receive are very suspect at this level. It's understandable since this is his first season ever getting real playing time in volleyball matches (never played in high school) and while athletic talent can go a long ways in hitting, it doesn't help you know where to position yourself on defense or learn a skill like passing overnight. A lot of times, one of the other players (usually Reyes) has to shift their own positioning to cover for him. He is also the favorite target for opposing servers because they've picked up on the weakness there.

As a result, we've actually played our best volleyball with him on the bench despite a step down at the net. The offense just gets in a better rhythm with better defense.

As for the one point he came in tonight, Underwood was having a rough night, particularly in that rotation where he effectively plays as an outside (hits on the left) rather than at opposite. They needed to get out of that rotation and wanted some extra fire power hitting on the left. They basically put him in as a third outside hitter and hid him on serve receive. After they won the point, Underwood came right back in because Langlois hasn't played opposite and once they were out of that rotation he would've been very uncomfortable on the right side.

Langlois has made big strides this year and has had great games and great moments, but IMO Sander and Fuchs are more complete players right now and the lineup is better with them both on the floor.
