There's her challenge. It's not a problem, but it does add a higher degree of
difficulty when the industries are not as hot as five years ago. She's going to need to open up her radius of possibilities. I've found working with engineering seniors that those with good academics and internship experiences don't have trouble getting offers unless they are limiting themselves geographically.
