We actually looked at the 2015 model and it was nice. It seemed like it
might be a good choice due to the gas mileage. Once we looked into the AWD system it was clear it would handle most dirt roads and small ruts but not senic Back roads.

Where we go, the roads have been grated at some point but can easily get washed out or develop moguls. Also, I would rather have a true 4wd with that would be more capable in other terrain as we will be exploring new areas some of which recommend a locker for a short climb even though the rest of the road is moderate.

The Subaru would be a great choice for general travel and minor dirt roads. Saw a lot in Moab as people took them to mountain bike trail heads.
