I think you are confusing entertaining baseball with well played baseball.
Entertaining baseball is great as long as it does not eliminate quality play. Having a DH does both.
Watching a starting pitcher ignore the 7th and 8th batters just to get a chance to throw to the pitcher is neither entertaining or strategic. I would rather watch a pitcher and catcher figure out a strategy for pitching to the 8th hitter with runners in scoring position than figure out a strategy to avoid doing so.
