They played at Colorado Springs in the AFA Piper Cup 7s tournament last Friday and Saturday. Their results were:
BYU OPP
W State Colorado 43 0
Colorado State 59 0
Montana State 52 0 (Semi-final)
Air Force 37 0 (Final)
That's makes a combined score of 191 - 0 over four matches. That's remarkable. And when you consider that they only play seven minute halves separated by a one minute halftime, it's more remarkable still. Then factor in the fact that up until only two weeks ago they were focusing on 15s where you have twice as many players on the field, and it should be extremely obvious -- these ladies can really play rugby.
BYU is now an automatic qualifier for the USA Rugby College 7s Championship held this year May 23-24 at Denver, CO. Unfortunately USAR continues to hold them on a Saturday and Sunday so BYU will not be attending. It's the same reason the men don't attend either.
