The Collegiate Rugby Championship (aka CRC) was started in 2010 after the 2009 announcement that sevens was returning to the 2016 Olympics. The organizers are the same outfit that runs the Varsity Cup. Their champions have been:

•2010: Utah
•2011: Dartmouth
•2012: Dartmouth
•2013: Cal
•2014: Cal

The tournament has been a great success. Over ten thousand spectators have shown up to watch it in the stands, and it is carried on live TV.

USA Rugby saw the popularity of the CRC and after a couple of years decided to start their own competition. The first tournament was held in the fall of 2011:

•2011(/12): Life
•2012(/13): Arkansas State
•2013(/14): Arkansas State

USAR moved it to May this year.

By far the most popular and best run tournament is the CRC. Unfortunately, they play on Sunday's, as well.
