That's a great question. My understanding is that no tithing goes directly to
the for profit side. But I don't think that holds true for any ROI from investing tithing dollars with like Ensign Peak Advisors for example. But I could be completely and absolutely wrong on that, it's pretty impossible for an everyday member to completely understand what's going on since the Church no longer discloses any financial information. And even if interest from invested tithing is used, at that point is it really still tithing?

I also wonder whether any tithing dollars are used for infrastructure that benefits the athletic department. Certainly tithing dollars can go directly to BYU. I wonder if athletic facility updates are funded directly and solely from the athletic department or does some of that money come from BYU's "general fund" or something like that. I'm sure someone here knows the answer to that.
