They asked the ref, he wasn't clear with his answer and they had been picking
And jamming for a while to burn the time. The game wouldn't end until the ball was dead. That was either going to be through a Cal penalty, a BYU penalty, a knock on or a kick out of bounds. Would you have preferred we plowed on until we got called for holding on or diving over or until we knocked it on? We give up a penalty and they have a shot at the posts. We knock on and they have the scrum. Trust me on this, the boys asked the ref, he gave an unclear (unclear to our boys) answer and they made the decision to kill the ball and end the game before something bad happened at the breakdown. Unfortunately the ref had an additional minute for play and luckily we were able to hold on.
My point for posting initially was to say quit looking for reasons to whine and complain about the performance. These are boys that pay their own way to play, and coaches who volunteer who just beat Cal with varsity athletes and full time paid coaches with a $1M + program budget. A huge accomplishment even though they made a few mistakes.
