shift work is very common in that industry
if you don't want shift work with a BS and little/no industry experience, go work for a defense contractor like L3.

It's a peculiar industry in that engineers work the production line, so you have to work the hours that would normally be worked by a production line tech in any other production industry.

We (as a country) are moving fabs overseas because of attitudes that say a college degree entitles you to a 9 to 5.
