Also cool: The Oklahoman has categorized BYU as a P5. The Oklahoman is the largest newspaper in Oklahoma. 

When BYU went Independent, there was a lot of talk that it could build itself into a major Indendent, irrespective of conference affiliation. We've been watching that process unfold over the last several years. The two biggest wins (that some people didn't recognize at the time) were when the ACC, and later the SEC, officially recognized BYU as P5. 

Prior to that, many indiviudal schools, and a number of publications, indicated that BYU was "like" a P5, or they "considered" BYU a P5 opponent. 

More recently, BYU is simply categorized as a P5, as they are in the above article from a major publication in Big 12 country.
