Russell was obviously great and those celtics teams were as well, but there was 8-10 teams in the NBA during almost all those titles.(14 for the last one) I'm sure the math doesn't translate perfectly but 3 times as many teams implies it should be 3 times as hard to win the title. He may have still one quite a few, but no way he wins 11 if there are 30 teams.
