Re your last point, the Pirates and Giants are in the same boat.
I'd love to think that they will both eclipse their respective divisional gorillas, but in the case of the Cards, I just don't see how they'll lose enough ground to allow anyone in a division race, and in the case of the Dodgers, their pockets are nowhere near empty. Rumor has it that Cueto is all but certain, and they're testing the waters on Hammel also. And, if they don't drop some money on bullpen help, they're idiots, which, with what's-his-name now in their front office, they're decidedly not. Hard to compete (at least for division titles ) with resources like that.

Frustratingly, I would be very unsurprised to see a wildcard matchup of the same two teams as last year.
