Impossible to know how that would have played out, but

Between BYU, TCU, Utah, BSU, Kansas, KState, Baylor, TT, UConn, WVU, and Cincinnati, all of whom would've been conference searching, a decent conference could have formed. Hard to know if any of the above could/would have found a home somewhere else.
