Rule: If you are replacing 2 tires due to wear, then you need to rotate
... your tires more often.

Also, it's always a good idea to get an alignment after replacing your tires; especially once you get above 100,000 miles. A lot of times, new tires mask underlying suspensions issues (worn tie rods, shocks/struts, wheel bearings, etc).
