If you are on scholarship...
You, the athlete need to demonstrate some common sense in your activities (higher risk activities) and make better decisions that honor the PAID scholarship funding. IMO, the athlete has a responsibility to protect his body in other activities so he/she can 'payback' the the scholie funding with the full use of their athletic body to the sport which they are being funded to participate in.

I understand that a youth wants to live life and get that. But they also must be told and honor the idea of not risking their bodies with other activities that might render themselves useless so as to payback their funded scholarship.

My guess is that most (not all) professional athletes will not 'risk' their short term careers (4-8 years typically in NFLNBA) by engaging in higher risk activities that might jeopardize their current pay checks. The college football and basketball athlete need to also think similarly IMO
