OK CB travelers, We are headed to London and thinking about a trip to Paris whil
in the area.

Sister-in-law just called and told us that she found a tour package that would take us on through the chunnel (presumably by Eurostar) then 3 nights in Paris, a Paris guided tour, and a WW2 tour including Normandy/Utah beach etc. Total cost is $2,200 per couple ($1,100 per person).

I have to believe that my wife and I can get a basically similar experience on our own for a lot less than that. I am not in love with the idea of 3 nights in France, either.

Those of you who have pulled this stunt before, what suggestions do you have? We'll have a car in London and I suppose we could drive it through the chunnel and drive ourselves around if it would save us some money, but I'm hesitant to do it.

I'm really more interested in a 24-48 hour France experience. Would love to see D-Day sites and the city of Paris/Louvre museum. D-Day sites are definitely optional for us if we go to France.
