No. It's not the most important stat.
As I said, the up-tempo offense is going to inflate the offensive stats and deflate the defensive stats. Like Accipter said, having a top offense doesn't mean much if they are losing games because of the bad defense.

Using stats that don't control for the number of plays aren't going to serve as legitimate tools for comparison. I think the yards/play stat does a better job at describing the true quality of the team's offense.
