get her a Mac. MUCH more intuitive, and far less hassle for you. Then I'd make myself the administrator (set up another account for her) and lock her out of the "guts." It's easy to do. I know Indexing is going web-based, if it's not already. And there are plenty of genealogy programs for the Mac.

I would do an iPad and a wireless keyboard, if possible.
