I don't have the surge, but the flex works just fine if I put it in my pocket
when biking so that it tracks the motion of my leg. Mine actually picks up quite a few steps if I leave it on my wrist as well, but I'm not sure why. Maybe the bumps, maybe the motion of my legs affects my arms just enough. I dono.
