It's weird they did that. Utah's a pretty strong HS
wrestling state, lots of Mormon kids do it in proportion to the general population, it's a sport that breeds disciplined youth (mission presidents love wrestlers), it's a relatively inexpensive sport, and BYU had a fantastic coach in Schultz.
I know it was a Title IX thing, but I also heard Val Hale hated the sport (whereas Fehlberg loved it). No matter the reason, dumb, dumb move!!
