My brother (who works for a major TV provider)
Is involved heavily in negotiations with TV channels. He mentioned a couple of interesting things. These are his opinions after being involved in negotiations and the pay TV circles...again, just opinions.

Channels want to force commercials: sling TV offers on demand DVR like service without the ability to skip commercials. TV channels see this as a way to get more viewers even if it means they get fewer carriage fees.

DirecTV/at&T merger is making channels very upset

Cable channels that don't show live events are going to get swallowed up by streaming companies, or have to change their structure completely.

Cable companies are going to start capping peoples usage and on average Americans are going to pay much, much more for internet.

4k live TV is being heavily tested, and some foreign countries are streaming 4k sporting events. 1 football game could use up to 40 GB of data.

ESPN is considering a Pay per view type of offering that allows cord cutters to overpay for single games....and possibly exclusive ppv for certain events (like boxing does)

Anyways, nothing earth shattering...just thought the info was interesting.
