... Hurley hired Brian Merritt as an Assistant Coach. Up until last May, Merritt was the Director of Scouting and Recruiting for John Lucas Enterprises and as a result, he has tons of AAU and other connections.
Similar to how ASU landed James Harden. Sendek hired Harden's HS coach Scott Pera. Pera was/is actually a very good coach and is now the Associate HC at Rice.
