For the vast majority of teams the patsies have been played and buried by week 3. Teams during weeks 3 through 5 are playing meaningful games. These games become a better measuring stick. BYU however, doesn't have the luxury of playing the Wagner's out of the gate. But yet, voting doesn't become relevant until a few games have been played, including BYU.

Do I think BYU should be ranked higher, not necessarily. But it doesn't becoming meaningful until games have been played.

That is why pre-season polls are worthless.
