Colorado isn't bad and nor was Utah
Colorado was a Big 12 member in a big market (Denver) that aligned politically with P12 schools. I can see them being selected over CSU.
The only issue with Utah is that they are trumped by BYU....so as far as marketing BYU was a better choice. However the politics trumps that.
