I worked at a car shop while at BYU, amazed me how people don't take of cars
Had a lady bring in a nearly new minivan (2 years old or so) with a seized engine. We raised it up and pulled the oil plug as she said she hadn't changed the oil since she bought it as a used car about a year earlier. I pulled the plug and a little bit of tar dropped out. We pulled off the oil pan and it was caked with oil that had just turned into a thick muddy mess because she NEVER changed the oil. She drove a 2yr old engine into the ground by simply not changing the oil.

A kid, literally 16 yrs old just got license kid, drove in early one Saturday morning begging us to hurry and change the drivers side front and rear tires on a brand new Z4 convertible. I went out to look at it and told him we couldn't just change the tires because both front and rear rims were badly damaged, with what looked like hairline crack about 4 inches long on the rear wheel. He was looking panicky and asked how much it would cost to replace the tires and rims. I just chuckled and said we would have to check, but the tires alone would easily run over US$1000 for both as they were high-performance tires and that we would have to special order the sizes. He literally about fainted. I asked his friend what happened and he said they took the car out for a joyride while the parents were gone on a trip (coming back that Saturday afternoon) and the kid hit a curb going around 50mph or so. I said it was tough luck, but the tires wouldn't get here before later in the afternoon, assuming the warehouse in SLC had them in stock. The dad showed up that afternoon, and if lasers could ever shoot out of a man's eyes, this guy just about did when he looked at the car, our estimate, and then his son. Poor kid looked like he wanted to crawl under a rock and die.

The last great story is what one of the techs did to a customer. We had a contract with the one of the local PDs to change the oil on their cars. He drained the oil, replaced the filter, and told the cop he was good to go. Cop came back about 15 minutes later mad as hades. Apparently the tech forgot to put oil in the car after draining it, oops.
