I made the decision a long time ago to never use preferred stock as an investmen
strategy. I can't remember all the reasons, but I think it has to do with preferred not participating in the benefits of stock or bonds. Rightly or wrongly, I've always considered preferred to exhibit the worst aspects of bonds and common stock, but not experiencing the rewards. I think a properly allocated portfolio will perform better with less risk. Just my 2 cents.
