Well, despite what AL fans think, the homerun is not the only way to score.
Shoot, it's not even the primary way to score.

The only reason an outfield boundary was ever even created was because it was another place to stick paying customers.

I'd honestly LOVE to see the game played professionally without outfield fences. Ortiz et al would have to waddle the whole 360 feet quick enough to get their home run before the outfield can relay a deep shot back in.
