The '07 Saturn view uses the i4 Ecotec. It's an engine designed for 700hp to be
used in racing applications. I've seen the design documents while working on my senior project at BYU. GM or not, it's a world class power-plant. I can't comment on the Saturn's tranny nor it's build quality though, but the engine is fine (if not under powered and boring).

But take it from a guy who buys $5-7k cars ALL the time. You never come out ahead when you trade. If you sell private party, chances are that car will be loooong gone by the time you sell yours. Then you'll be stuck looking for the next "deal" (which rarely exist either, they almost certainly have issues....many of which can be fixed).

Look at it economically. You sell your Honda for $5k. You buy this for $2799, and then you are stuck with your $50 emissions and registration (assuming it passes) and then you get dinged with your $110 registration "fee" because it's so new and your 8% sales tax ($240ish)

Your total cost for this Saturn is about $3200 which after $5k is only $1800 left to play with the downpayment for your nicer car. Those margins are WAY to slim for this to really work out. All it takes is the mechanic to find a bad ball joint and charge you $300~500 for the repair and your hosed on the deal.

Keep your Honda.
