whose last three seasons have been a consistent, but underwhelming 8-5 each year.
Whether you love being independent or hate it, the fact is it makes for boring talk radio. Look at it from the Talk Radio perspective: 1) There's no divisional or conference championship aspirations to talk about; 2) There's no conference POTW awards to talk about; 3) One bad loss and BYU's aspirations of a NY6 bowl (ignoring the CFP) are gone. There's only so many ways to spin "Will Bronco's D be better than Howell's D?...Is football still fifth?...How is Taysom's leg going to hold up? Will JSwagDaddy stay healthy?...Are the DB's going to kill BYU again this year?..." No one outside of 10% of the most blue-goggled fans expect BYU to make any noise nationally in 2015 and, when you have no conference-related material to spin off of that, it makes for boring talk radio.
Sadly, the current "independent" BYU team is not good (in their minds) for talk radio. Sad...BUT TRUE.
