The knee fills with blood quite quickly because of the torn ligament and there will be obvious laxity with a couple of maneuvers that any good team doc will be skilled in. Many docs are afraid to say anything publicly because of the thought of the MRI disagreeing with them, but it's not common for them to call an ACL tear and have the MRI come back negative.
