It's easy to get market share if your product is free
It's a lot harder to make a buck. The problem apple has is that it's iPhone has been so overwhelmingly profitable that the company has become a one trick pony. Yeah, they have a lot of other profitable products and businesses but the iPhone dwarfs them all. If the iPhone slows at all the company's growth story looks anemic.
