The context of the Gordon Gee comment...
Here's the exact quote from Gee:
"BYU would make a very good addition to the Big 12, as a matter of fact."

The thing about this comment is that the host was goading Gee into committing on something about BYU with the following quote: "What do you think about adding BYU? Get your Mormons in there?"
Gee's comment was just a politically correct statement because the host put him on the spot. This wasn't a quote Gee just offered up. I don't think there is much to read into it here.
